This is a 15 minute mind reading piece containing 4 phases. It uses a few blank business cards, a few envelopes and a few papers – all normal and ungimmicked.
Phase One – A participant chooses a famous quote, silently in her mind, from among several options. Nothing is spoken or written down by the participant. And yet, the performer reads the participant’s mind and divines the chosen quote.
Phase Two – A second participant chooses a famous person, very randomly, from among several possibilities. Weirdly, it so coincides that the famous quote chosen by the first participant happens to be of the famous person chosen by the second person.
Phase Three – This is an optional phase. The performer now proves that he had predicted well in advance, both the choices made by both the participants. This prediction is very dramatic and extremely visual.
Phase Four – This phase can be used as an ‘encore routine’. In case anyone asks the performer to ‘do it again for me’, the performer asks a third participant to silently think of a famous person from among several options. And without the participant having to speak or write anything, his thought is revealed by the performer.
This is a flexible routine where the performer can choose to stop after any of the phases, depending on the time available and performing situation. Actually, the first 2 phases can be classified as the ‘Main Routine’. The third phase is an ‘Optional Phase’ and the fourth phase is best used as an ‘Encore Routine’
