Step into the mesmerizing world of hypnotic card magic with Perna’s Ideogimana. This groundbreaking project unveils Perna’s two-phase amnesia card effect, a stunning illusion that will leave your audience spellbound. Perfect for beginners and seasoned magicians alike, this effect is a must-have for anyone looking to explore the art of hypnosis through magic.
What is Ideogimana?
Imagine this: You present a deck of cards to your audience, setting the stage for a hypnotic experience. You invite a participant to name a card—let’s say the Jack of Clubs. You place the named card face down on the table and guide the participant through a pseudo-hypnotic induction. As they ‘awaken,’ they pick up the card, only to see it completely blank. The audience is convinced the card has vanished before their eyes!
But the magic doesn’t stop there. In the second phase, the participant is put back into a ‘sleep state,’ and the card reappears as if by magic. The participant is left in awe, and the audience is captivated by the seamless illusion.
Why Choose Ideogimana?

In this project, Perna explains his work on hypnotic card material by releasing for the first time his two-phase amnesia card effect.
Imagine that the performer presents a deck of cards to convey the idea of hypnosis to their audience. The performer then asks for help from a participant. The performer asks the participant to name a card out loud (let’s say it is the Jack of Clubs).
The performer then takes the named card and puts it face down on the table. The participant is then put through a (pseudo) hypnotic induction. The performer explains that, in a moment, the participant will pick up and look at the card but will see nothing but white, as if their card has vanished in front of their eyes. The participant is then ‘awoken’ and picks up the card. Based on the participant’s reaction, the audience will believe that the card has, indeed, vanished in front eyes of the participant who is (apparently) under hypnosis.
The participant is then put into another (apparent) sleep state. The performer suggests to them that the card is going to come back into view for them to see. They are ‘awoken’ 0nce again and pick up the card once more. As they look at it, they see that the named card is not blank anymore.
In the second phase, the participant thinks of another card somewhere in the middle of the deck and the performer explains that they are about to take out the participant’s thought of card and the participant will not remember whilst they are explaining what is about to happen, the performer does just that with onlookers to witness it happen. Yet, the participant doesn’t remember it happening.
There is no instant stooging or wordplay here to make the participant play along. The audience actually sees what is happening throughout the effect.
This is a great introduction for anyone who wants to start learning hypnosis!
