Description & Effect
Discover the Versatility of Francis Tabary's Magic
While often celebrated for his pioneering work in rope magic, Francis Tabary, a revered 'World Close-up Champion,' extends his genius far beyond the confines of a simple cord. This exclusive digital download, 'Magic Video - Francis Tabary - Notes de conférences,' offers a rare glimpse into his broader repertoire. Filmed at a conference on September 16, 2015, near Nancy, this video captures Tabary presenting a selection of incredibly varied effects that are completely 'rope-free' and designed to be accessible to magicians of all skill levels, from hobbyists to seasoned professionals.
Experience a master at work, as Francis Tabary performs and then meticulously explains each effect. The video boasts excellent production quality, featuring multiple camera angles—including wide, tight, and an incredibly practical top-down view—ensuring every nuance of his performance and instruction is perfectly clear. You'll gain insight into effects that are perfect for parlor, table, or even ambulatory (walk-around) magic settings.
Unpack Five Incredible Routines
This comprehensive video includes five full, audience-bluffing routines that your spectators will remember long after the show:
- White Cards: Witness a blank deck magically print faces and backs, only to revert to its pristine, empty state.
- Scarves and Purses: A chosen colored scarf, authenticated with spectator-chosen knots, inexplicably appears inside a chained purse Tabary wears around his neck, after being placed in a different pouch. He even 'explains' it, only for it to work again!
- Multiple Bill Production from Wallet: Watch in amazement as ordinary pieces of paper transform into euro banknotes of increasing denominations (10€, 20€, 50€) and even dollars into higher value euro notes (100€, 200€, 500€), generating a staggering 1600€ from a simple wallet! This routine is a true showstopper.
- Signed Card to Wallet (No Palming): A spectator's signed, lost card impossibly travels into a zippered compartment of Tabary's wallet, not once, but multiple times, under increasingly impossible conditions and without the need for palming.
- Cards and Coins: A selected coin vanishes from the deck's surface to reappear beneath a chosen card. This is then repeated with multiple coins reappearing on multiple selected cards.
Bonus: Tabary's Grips Vanish (TGV)
As an invaluable bonus, Francis Tabary delves deep into his renowned 'TGV' (Tabary's Grips Vanish) technique. He shares the history and reasoning behind its creation, demonstrating various handlings for vanishes and appearances—on the hand, from the table, via throws, catches, and even 'hand washing' motions. This section is an incredibly thorough exploration, offering years of Tabary's research into coin manipulation. Learn how to apply TGV for transformations, single-coin or multiple-coin travels, and even how to combine it seamlessly with card magic, including the 'Cards and Coins' routine taught earlier. This digital download is an essential resource for any magician looking to expand their repertoire with high-impact, versatile, and expertly taught magic.
Original Specs
Francis TABARY is mainly known for his work on strings… but not only that! ;)
In 1988, he presented a completely new magic act, with a simple rope as the only accessory, at the National Congress of the French Association of Conjuring Artists, which awarded him first prize in the “Invention” category.
A few years later, in 1991, Francis TABARY won the coveted title of “World Close-up Champion” at the World Congress of Magicians gathered in Lausanne and thus became one of the undisputed masters of string magic.
However, Francis TABARY was able to take an interest in other areas and become an expert, particularly with impossible figures and ambigrams .
I assure you (or not), this video has no connection with what I just discussed previously! :)
Indeed, as a master magician, Francis TABARY is also asked to give conferences all over the world.
As ropes are not necessarily what interests magicians the most ;), it also offers a conference based on very varied effects WITHOUT rope and accessible to all (amateurs and professionals).
This video was filmed near Nancy on September 16, 2015.
In terms of configuration, Francis is in front of a small table in front of an audience of around ten spectators.
I particularly appreciated that it remains standing and addresses its effects, which can therefore be used in the living room, on a table or even in ambulatory magic.
VIDEO
In performance, it's well filmed with at least 2 cameras in front.
For the explanations, the same goes for wide, tight shots and even a very practical top view shot.
The DVD includes 5 complete routines and also as a bonus the famous TGV, Tabary's Grip Vanish.
White cards
Francis TABARY presents an all-white deck of cards.
It will print a face, then a back, then another card, then another and ultimately all the cards.
However, the cards are erased again and the game becomes completely white again.
Scarves and purses
Bonus : TGV : Tabary’s Grips Vanish
Francis TABARY begins to explain to us the reasons for the creation of this technique.
Then he shows us the possible positions and how to bring the piece(s) into that position.
Several ways are explained in the hand, on the table, throwing, grasping, hand washing, etc. It also deals with apparitions.
The subject is treated in a very, very complete way and Francis gives us (offers, I should write) the entirety of years of research.
It also addresses the transformations and travels of pieces with 2 pieces then 3 one by one or even all 3 at once (to bluff the magicians ;)).
Finally he explains the combination of his technique with cards and in particular the trick presented previously with the 3 cards and pieces chosen.
