Josh Zandman – Chairs: A Masterful Impromptu Routine
Discover the magic of Josh Zandman’s Chairs, an impromptu chair routine that will leave your audience in awe. This no-gimmick, clean, and simple performance is perfect for any stage or event.
How It Works
A spectator is invited on stage to sit in one of seven chairs. They have complete freedom to choose and change their mind as many times as they like. The chosen chair contains a single envelope with a $20 bill inside, inscribed with the words, “You will choose this chair.” To confirm the prediction, the chairs to the left and right are shown to be empty. The spectator keeps the bill and walks off stage, leaving the audience amazed.
Key Features
- No Gimmicks: No switches or forces are used, ensuring a clean and fair performance.
- Spectator Involvement: The spectator handles the envelope, adding to the authenticity of the routine.
- Immediate Confirmation: The surrounding chairs are shown to be empty, no matter which chair is chosen.
Variations
For an added twist, you can have the spectator walk away with a $1 bill while every other chair contains a $100 bill! This variation adds an extra layer of surprise and excitement to the routine.
Contributions
This routine includes contributions from renowned magicians such as Greg Arce, Max Krause, Dr. Todd Landman, Raj Madhok, and a bonus routine from Andrew Gerard.

Chairs: impromptu chair routine by Zandman
A simple impromptu, no gimmick chair routine.
A spectator comes on stage and sits in any one of 7 chairs. She has a free choice and may change her mind as many times as she likes. The chair she chooses is the predicted chair containing a single envelope. Inside this envelope is a $20 bill with, “You will choose this chair” written on the bill. To confirm the prediction and a wise choice by the spectator, the chairs to the left and right of the predicted chair are shown empty. She keeps the bill and walks off stage. Simple. Clean. Done.
