The Effect
Invite your spectator to think of someone they dislike and explain your intention to use black magic for revenge. As you introduce a foreboding coffin box, the atmosphere thickens with tension. Inside the box lies a peculiar voodoo doll, which you invite your spectator to inspect. Once placed on your hand, instruct them to visualize a misfortune befalling their chosen person. As the wooden pin pierces the doll’s heart, the doll eerily begins to rise on its own, standing tall and locking eyes with your spectator.
No wires, no threads, no magnets – the doll’s movement is so seamless and mysterious that your audience will be convinced of the reality of black magic. For an even more dramatic effect, place a glass dome over the doll, or challenge your skills to make it balance on one leg before your spectator blows it down, completing the curse.

The Effect
Ask your spectator to think of someone they don’t like and explain that you can use black magic to seek some form of revenge. Any giggles will soon be drowned out by an eerie silence as you introduce a creepy coffin box. Inside… some sort of voodoo doll. Have this bizarre ‘artifact’ examined before placing it flat on your hand and instruct your spectator to imagine something bad happening to their victim of choice. All that’s left to do is for them to stick the wooden pin into its heart to commence the dark spell. Under your control, the somewhat ‘haunted’ voodoo doll begins to rise… all on its own… right under your spectator’s outstretched hand… until it’s stood up straight looking them right in the eyes.
No wires, no threads, no magnets… a secret so devious they’ll swear that black magic is real.
You can even place a glass over the doll to isolate it entirely, and, with a little practice and a steady hand even get it to stand on one leg before getting your spectator to blow him down and complete the curse.
