Description & Effect

This issue of Gibecière, the thirty-seventh installment of our esteemed journal, stands as a beacon for serious students and enthusiasts of magic history. It's a digital download offering immediate access to a wealth of meticulously researched articles.

Unveiling Pivotal Moments in Magic History

The issue opens with a profoundly significant piece: 'Magical Jews' by the legendary Max Maven. Originally conceived as a full-length book, this article represents Maven's most refined and comprehensive draft, generously shared with Gibecière by John Lovick. It offers an unparalleled chronicle of the Jewish community's indelible contributions to the art of conjuring, shedding light on their experiences and innovations through the ages. Following this, Richard Hatch delves into the life and extraordinary accomplishments of Günther Dammann. During the tumultuous era of Nazi Germany, Dammann courageously compiled a biographical treasury of Jewish conjurers, a testament to his dedication and a vital historical record that Hatch meticulously explores.

Exploring Legendary Lives and Global Traditions

Pietro Micheli revives a highly anticipated series with 'Pinetti: New Discoveries, Part 5.' This latest installment continues to peel back the layers on the enigmatic Giuseppe Pinetti, revealing fresh information about his captivating life and adventures that even seasoned scholars will find surprising. Concluding this issue, Kei Izumi presents a captivating history of playing-card magic in Japan. His article navigates the unique origins of Japanese card manipulation, meticulously tracing its indigenous development alongside the significant, yet often subtle, influences exerted by Western card magic traditions. This volume of Gibecière is an essential addition to any magic library, promising intellectual rigor, fascinating revelations, and a deeper appreciation for the diverse tapestry of magical art.
