Who Is Doug Brewer?
Known primarily for his coin magic, Doug Brewer’s journey into the world of magic began at the tender age of 11 with his first paid gig. Moving to Los Angeles in his early twenties, he had the privilege of becoming a student of Johnny Ace Palmer. Brewer’s accolades include winning the Pacific Coast Association of Magicians close-up contest in 1996 and securing first place in close-up at the Society of American Magicians convention in New Orleans in 1998. His versatile career includes strolling, close-up, bar magic, and stage performances as part of the comedy magic duo, The Magical Misfits. His first book, produced by Chris Smith of Magic Smith fame, came to fruition after Chris witnessed his performance at a local eatery. Doug continues to produce magic that is both practical and impactful for working magicians.

In 1996 he won the Pacific Coast Association of Magicians close-up contest, and in 1998 won first place in close-up at the Society of American Magicians convention in New Orleans. He has worked in practically every venue offered to magicians: strolling, close-up, and bar magic, and the stage as part of the two-man comedy magic team, The Magical Misfits. His first book was produced by Chris Smith, of Magic Smith fame, when Chris saw him performing at a local eatery. Doug has continued to produce magic designed for working conditions.
