Coup d’Etat by Jean-Pierre Vallarino
Step into the world of mystery and astonishment with Coup d’Etat, a masterful card trick designed by Jean-Pierre Vallarino. This trick is not just a performance; it’s an experience that will leave your audience spellbound.
Here’s how the magic unfolds:
- Prepare the Stage: Begin by handing out two small bags to two different spectators and a padlocked envelope to a third. The deck of cards is presented as completely normal and thoroughly shuffled.
- Audience Participation: Invite a spectator to reshuffle the deck. The cards are then turned over and spread out, allowing each spectator to select a portion. This ensures complete unpredictability—neither the spectators nor you know what cards they hold.
- Color Separation: Spectators separate their cards into red and black piles. The first two spectators then count the number of red and black cards they possess and open the bags you provided earlier. Inside, they find the exact number of red and black chips, matching their card counts perfectly.
- The Grand Reveal: The third spectator attempts to open the padlock but fails. You then instruct him to use the four numbers corresponding to the red and black card counts from his fellow spectators. Miraculously, the padlock opens, revealing a third prediction—a piece of cardboard stating the exact number of red and black cards he holds. The accuracy is undeniable, leaving everyone in awe.
This trick is designed to be performed with everyday items—no special props are included, though you’ll need a few basics that can be easily sourced. The included DVD provides detailed instructions to help you master this astonishing performance.
Coup d’Etat by Jean-Pierre Vallarino
At the very beginning of the trick, give 2 small bags to 2 different spectators and an envelope sealed with a padlock to a third one. The deck is shown and spectators can see it is normal and mixed.
You ask one of the spectators to remix the deck. The deck is turned over then spread in a ribbon, so that each spectator takes hold of one part. Nobody can know the cards he holds, neither himself nor you. The spectators separate their red cards from the black.
The two first spectators count the number of red cards and black cards they hold, then open the bags you previously gave them. They contain the exact amount of chips: red and black!
The third spectator is now asked to open the padlock… in vain. You then ask him to try to open it with the 4 numbers corresponding to the number of red and black cards from his 2 mates. The padlock opens and he can himself pull out a third prediction on a piece of cardboard is written the amount of red and black cards from his packets. He can check everything is correct. Impossible?
