Description by Daniel Madison…
Now then. For those unaware, Deceptions is a series of journals dedicated to the art and psychology of sleight-of-hand and deception with playing cards. Direct from my deceptive studies, in each volume I explore and exercise ideas and concepts of artifice, subterfuge, deception and devilry.
In 2009, Deceptions began its life ‘THE UNDERGROUND JOURNALS of MAGIC’ …a series of magic-specific studies and excerpts from my journals mixed with new material and additional input from other industry occupants. Along with all of my other studies on magic at that time, Deceptions ended as I hung up my cape. But as one door closes, another opens and Deceptions is now back with a new direction and focus on the psychology and art of sleight-of-hand and deception (as opposed to studies in ‘magic.’)
Volume Three explores some of the more daring deck-switching techniques I’ve played with and also includes a device I’ve loved for many years… Slaine. The device puts a full ‘cold-deck’ in your hand whenever you need it, without having to dip in pockets or up sleeves.
Also in D3, I decided to add my published marking systems; BLOOD and THE SCORE, for kind and to nudge you toward a reason to switch the deck.
